Infinity Beach Boutique Hotel & Spa

Pale sand runs the length of Matemwe's shore, on Zanzibar's northeast coast, where every room at Infinity Beach faces the water. The beach here is broad, and the tide draws far out over the reef flats before turning. Each suite opens onto its own terrace, screened by bamboo walls set at an angle that lets guests see out without being seen from the sand. Furniture is handmade from local timber, and no two rooms share quite the same layout or décor. Bathrooms are en-suite with oversized rain showers, and beds run to emperor size in the largest suites. A pool measuring 25 by 15 metres sits back from the beach on a paved patio, long enough for proper laps rather than a dip. The restaurant sits ocean-front too, serving grilled octopus and reef fish alongside Zanzibar spices worked into breakfast and tea. Treatments at the spa deck use African oils and can run in-room or with the ocean in view. It is a small hotel, built and run by its owners rather than a chain. Days settle into a plain rhythm: swim, eat, read on the terrace, repeat. The pace is set by the tide, not the clock.
