Walk out from the room and the reef is already there. Island View Beachfront Resort sits on the sand at Bacong, in Anda, on Bohol's south-east coast, where a 14 km coral reef runs just offshore. Snorkellers and divers work the reef directly in front of the property, through an on-site dive centre run by an independent operator; at low tide the coral is exposed and walkable. Sixteen suites and standalone units are spread over close to three hectares, kept low-density and set among tropical garden paths that run for more than a kilometre. Classic and Deluxe Seaview Suites face the water from the main building; Garden Bungalows and Seaview Cabanas, reserved for couples, sit apart with private courtyards and outdoor showers. A 20 m pool overlooks the reef. Guests can climb the Green Heaven Tower for a view over the coastline and the mountains behind, or find the bamboo forest and old ruins nearby, sometimes set for a dinner among them. The restaurant, The Old Plantation, is built of local stone and timber under a terracotta roof, serving Asian and international dishes on a terrace shaded by coconut palms. It is open to non-residents too. Anda town, with its plaza and market, is reachable on foot along the beach at low tide.
