Jara Beach Resort

Started as a rented beach hut in 2016, the plot that became Jara Beach Resort was a five-minute walk from where the resort now stands. Mark and Millie Slade, a husband-and-wife team with more than three decades in hospitality between them, ran that hut as a weekend retreat before deciding beach days were too short and sleep too uncomfortable to leave unsolved. The resort itself opened on 8 November 2019 with six rooms, on a site discovered on a beach walk and rebuilt from a neighbouring hotel's annex. It closed within weeks for the pandemic, reopened in June 2020, and has since added family cabins, villas, a loft and studio rooms in stages through to 2023. It now runs 20 en-suite rooms along the Ibeju-Lekki shore, an hour's drive from Lekki Phase 1. Rooms keep a plain brief: queen or king beds, air conditioning, and a balcony facing the Atlantic. The Ocean Front Family Room adds a single bed alongside the queen, useful for a parent and child sharing. Two pools sit inland from the beach, alongside volleyball and badminton courts. Meals run three times daily, cooked to order rather than reheated, drawing on produce from both land and sea. The resort runs off-grid on solar power, a detail few day guests notice. Check-in for overnight stays is at 2pm.
