Jekaba Seta
The steam sauna here runs at 47°C and near-total humidity, its ceiling set with small points of light meant to look like stars. Jēkaba sēta is a hotel and restaurant on Liepājas Street, Kuldīga's pedestrian spine, opened in the middle of 2014 at the centre of the Kurzeme region. The family room runs to 60 m² and sleeps four. The restaurant sits at the heart of the operation, built around organic produce from local farms and dishes rooted in Kurzeme's cooking traditions, updated with modern touches. In winter, meals are served by the fireplace; in summer, on a terrace facing the pedestrian street and the town's historic centre. You can watch that street's foot traffic from the terrace tables over lunch. It is a small, family-run address rather than a grand one, built for return visits — guests who came once and keep coming back are, by the owners' own account, the point of the place.
