Junó Hotel Sofia
Thirty-five rooms and one hidden winery, steps from Sofia's old town
Junó Hotel Sofia is a recent addition to a street lined with protected historic buildings in central Sofia, a few minutes' walk from the city's pedestrian core. The hotel is new, but its setting is not: the surrounding blocks fall under heritage protection, and Junó was built to sit quietly among them, its plain facade and glass-fronted ground floor giving off a calm light onto the street after dark. Inside, the register turns modern. The 34 rooms and one suite run from a 30 m² Cozy King up to a 160 m² Penthouse on the sixth floor, several with floor-to-ceiling windows and a private terrace. Marble bathrooms are standard in many rooms, some with a freestanding tub. You can eat downstairs at Cookó, the in-house restaurant, where chef Valery Rusanov runs a seasonal menu from breakfast through to dessert. A compact gym carries Technogym and Nohrd equipment, and there is an infrared sauna and massage treatments, including Thai therapists trained in Thailand. For events, the hotel converts an underground former winery, 220 m², into space for up to 250 guests, while a rooftop terrace on the sixth floor holds smaller gatherings of up to 80. It is a small hotel with a large range of rooms.
