A side trip from the lodge into the village of Mfuwe, where a visitor centre run by Project Luangwa explains local education and community projects, alongside a small café and a craft shop. Guests can add a stop at the Mulberry Mongoose jewellery workshop, or at the Tribal Textiles factory, shop and its artisan market. Central Mfuwe also holds a Conservation South Luangwa centre, covering local conservation work. Twenty minutes from the lodge, the Chipembele Wildlife Educational Centre suits younger travellers. Together these stops give a picture of the community and conservation efforts around the park.
