Game drives at Kariega River Lodge depart twice daily to track the Big 5 across the reserve. Ten air-conditioned suites are built in stone and thatch. Each opens onto a private deck facing the water and includes a lounge area, minibar, tea and coffee station, dressing gowns, and an en-suite with shower. Heaters and fans supplement the air-conditioning. Rangers lead morning and afternoon drives through the reserve to find lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, hippo, giraffe, zebra, and antelope. Guided walks cover shorter trails on foot. You can fish from the bank or canoe the river independently. The main lodge has a dining room overlooking the water, an outdoor pool, a bar, a library, and a spa. Wireless internet, secure parking, and twenty-four-hour security are standard. Staff speak English, Afrikaans, and Xhosa. The reserve is malaria-free. Check-in is at 14h00; check-out at 10h00. All meals, selected beverages, and activities are included in the rate.
