Kasa Tambla

Set into a colonial fishing village on the island of Santo Antão, Kasa Tambla occupies one of Cape Verde's four most notable villages from that era, at the foot of the old town. Fishing remains the village's working trade, and the harbour lies just 30 m from the hotel door. The building is run as a family concern, with staff arranging hikes, transfers, currency exchange and guided days out along the island's coast. Rooms number nine in total, spread over three floors, and no two are alike. Two Large Suites on the upper floors face the Atlantic directly and take a double and a single bed, with a desk, a lounge corner and a fridge-bar; natural airflow keeps them cool without air conditioning. Three Suites on the first and second floors share the same layout at smaller scale, and open onto large windows. Four Classique rooms, simpler again, hold a double bed, an armchair and a table. A shared terrace on the third floor looks over the harbour and the sunset. You can hear the fishing boats from the terrace most evenings. Breakfast is served on site, and the bar, library and massage room round out the amenities. Bathrooms are private throughout. Check-in runs from 8am.
