Kekemba Resort Paramaribo

Palms ring the garden here, hammocks strung between them, on a quiet street called Mangolaan on the edge of Paramaribo. Suriname keeps more than eighty per cent of its land under primary forest, and the capital sits close enough to that cover that a walk to the zoo or into town feels like a short errand rather than a journey. Kekemba works as a base for both: a night in the garden, a day out toward the mangroves or the Brokopondo reservoir inland. The resort holds ten apartments plus a bungalow, from studios to a three-bedroom unit of 120 m². Apartment six, one of five two-bedroom layouts, runs to 55 m² with its own terrace and sleeps up to four. Every unit is self-catering, with a full kitchen, air conditioning, Wi-Fi and a private bathroom. There is one pool, shared, plus a hot tub. It is not a hotel. No set mealtimes, no restaurant bell, just a kitchen stocked enough for a pot of coffee or a bowl of soup. Guests can walk to Paramaribo Zoo from the property. The garden itself, thick with palms, does the rest of the work: shade at midday, hammocks after.
