King's Lodge Bandhavgarh

Set into two sal-forested hills above Rancha village, Kings Lodge occupies fourteen hectares of land that was planted, not cleared, to build it: thousands of trees went into the ground rather than out of it, leaving the estate about 95% under canopy. The lodge sits ten minutes from Tala gate, with Magadhi and Khitauli around 20 minutes further, putting all three core zones of Bandhavgarh National Park within easy reach for morning and afternoon drives. It is a compact stay. Eighteen cottages, ten on the ground and eight raised on stilts, are spaced through the trees for privacy, each with a private verandah, air conditioning, and a writing table facing the forest. Solar panels cover roughly 70% of the lodge's power needs, and single-use plastic has been removed from the operation entirely. An organic kitchen garden and a butterfly garden, home to around 40 species, sit within the grounds, supplying herbs and vegetables to the dining hall and grill. Naturalists lead nature walks and evening talks on the park's tigers, leopards, and gaur, and guests can also cycle or walk the buffer-zone fringes bordering the estate. You can hear the forest close in after dark, when the lodge's own woodland blurs into the wider reserve beyond its boundary.
