Koro Wildlife Research

Guests take part in an ongoing doctoral research project studying leopards and hyenas across the Tuli concession, including the rare brown hyena, a species tied closely to the Kalahari. Sander Vissia, heading the research programme and completing his doctorate through Wageningen University in the Netherlands, leads visitors through monitoring routines and field observation methods. The concession itself is an open, unfenced system where conditions shift constantly, home to resident leopards and spotted hyenas, brown hyenas, lions moving in from the Northern Tuli Game Reserve and South Africa, and wild dog packs that cross the border. It is genuine fieldwork, not a staged demonstration.
