Koro Sun Resort

Ringed by rainforest and coconut palms, the resort's private lagoon runs calm and clear enough to see the sand beneath a kayak. Koro Sun Resort occupies 160 acres on Vanua Levu, Fiji's second-largest island, a short transfer from Savusavu airport. The land was once a coconut plantation, and the palms still stand between the bures and the water. Fifty-one bures and villas are spread across three collections: Botanical Rooms set among tropical gardens, adults-only Edgewater Bures and Floating Bures on the lagoon, and private villas for larger groups, including a five-bedroom Mountain Top Villa. Latitude 17 restaurant sits at the lagoon's edge, its seafood and steak menu built around Asian-fusion touches, while Sand Bar & Grill serves casual meals on the Floating Bure Lagoon shore. You can hear the stream that runs past the Rainforest Spa's three treatment bures, where therapists use coconut oil and banana leaves harvested on site. Days run to kayaking, snorkelling, paddleboarding and a nine-hole pitch-and-putt course, with an independent dive outfit, Dive Savusavu, based at the marina for reef trips. A kids' club runs supervised activities from 8am to 4pm daily, and a nanny service covers children three and under. Ground transfers from Savusavu airport are included. It is a working coastline as much as a resort, plantation, lagoon and reef in one stretch of land.
