Kumarakom Lake Resort
Kumarakom Lake Resort is a five-star property on the edge of Vembanad Lake, Kerala's longest, set across 25 acres of lawns, canals, and a meandering pool. The resort holds 59 rooms, villas, and suites, several with a private pool reached straight from the room. Villas follow Kerala's traditional building style: tiled roofs, timber frames, and an ornate carved lock called Mani-Chitra-Taal on each door. Much of the resort was built from timber salvaged from old regional buildings, an early and literal form of reuse rather than restoration. Its main restaurant, Ettukettu, occupies an octagonal 18th-century mansion moved here piece by piece from its original site and rebuilt around two courtyards; it seats 115 across buffet and à la carte service. A separate seafood restaurant and bar sits at the lake's edge, reached by a covered walkway. Guests can watch boats cross the water from the terrace. Ayurmana, the resort's Ayurveda spa, works from a courtyard building with a Tulsi plant at its centre and offers treatments such as Sirodhara and Pizhichil alongside consultations with an Ayurvedic doctor. A conference room seats up to 180, and the resort runs a business centre, a gym, and a library. Check-in is from 2pm. Kochi International Airport lies about 79 km away.
