Kunuk Hotel Boutique

Walking distance from the cathedral and Palacio de Gobierno, guests reach Künük Hotel Boutique through the Barrio de Santiago, a district of colonial façades laid out in 1542. The hotel occupies a house built in 1905 on Calle 59, Mérida's main street, once travelled by General Porfirio Díaz. Rooms have been renovated behind the original walls, and the result mixes wood finishes with a smart TV and Nespresso machine in each of the 13 rooms. A single tree anchors the courtyard, and rooms are arranged around it under a canopy of shade. It is a compact hotel. A pool sits inside the garden, ringed by planting dense enough to draw birdlife into the courtyard. You can hear birdsong from the terrace most mornings. A spa and small gym round out the amenities, and the concierge arranges day trips to Chichén Itzá, Uxmal and the cenotes near Homún.
