Coconut palms shade the grounds here, their trunks marking out the lawn where eight canvas tents stand spaced for privacy. Each tent runs to 30 square metres, built from local materials and set with a queen bed, air conditioning, and a private bathroom with hot water. Ceiling fans turn slowly against the heat. Guests are close enough to hear the ocean at night, but far enough apart that neighbouring tents stay out of view and earshot. The plantation itself is decades old, its palms left standing rather than cleared, and the paths between tents run over grass rather than sand. A restaurant in the main building serves Western and Indonesian dishes through the day, and a small pool sits within walking distance of every tent. Bicycles and snorkelling gear are provided free, useful given the island bans motorised vehicles entirely; transport runs instead on foot, by bike, or by horse cart. The beach and a nearby point known for its sunsets lie a short walk off. You can watch the light change over the water most evenings without leaving the grounds. Staff numbers stay small by design, so service tends toward the personal rather than the programmed, and repeat guests are common enough that the team knows them by name. It remains, at heart, a quiet base among old palms rather than a resort built to impress at scale.
