Night Excursion
After dark, the rainforest reveals its hidden hunters
Skip to product information
Guides lead guests out once the sun drops, either on foot or by canoe across the lake, to find the creatures that only appear after dark. On the water, torchlight might catch the eyes of caimans resting near the banks, along with bats and nightjars moving overhead, while the forest fills with the calls of unseen insects and frogs. On foot, the search turns to tarantulas, whip-scorpions, toads and the occasional snake, all easier to spot against the dark undergrowth. It is a slower, quieter way to see La Selva's forest, built around senses other than sight alone.
