Landhotel Sonneck

Run for years by Steffi and Niko Franke, Landhotel Sonneck has grown from a village hotel into a small cluster of buildings scattered through Feldberg-Altglashütten. The core hotel holds double and family rooms, the largest of the family rooms running to roughly 45 square metres with two bedrooms and a balcony. Around it, nine separate holiday apartments fill a nearby cottage and a second house a short drive off, ranging from a compact 49 square metres up to 85. Several of the newer flats carry their own sauna and a private balcony facing south-west or south-east. It is a working set-up, not a single grand building. The restaurant serves Baden cooking from a warm kitchen most evenings, and breakfast runs as a buffet. Outside, the ground sits at the base of the Feldberg, the highest point in the Black Forest, with hiking and mountain-bike trails starting from the front door and a beginner ski lift within walking distance. A children's playground and a lawn for lying out sit on the hotel's south side. Guests staying two nights or more get a regional guest card covering the mountain railway, area pools, and more than a hundred other outings. The village train station is five minutes on foot. Parking is provided at each building, and bike and ski storage rooms are locked and separate from the flats.
