L'Auberge Bretonne
L'Auberge Bretonne is a hotel built in the early 20th century above the town of La Roche-Bernard, overlooking the Vilaine river in Brittany. It has ten rooms, each individually decorated, ranging from 22 to 40 m². Rooms come with private bathrooms, flat-screen TVs and free wifi; one is fitted for reduced mobility. Standard rooms face the street, while Privilege rooms, the largest, face the garden and include a sitting area.

The restaurant carries a listing in the Michelin Guide. Chef Benoit Gauchet, who trained under Jacques Thorel, Olivier Roellinger and Jean-Francois Piege, builds the menu around a seasonal card. He buys directly from producers at the markets of Vannes, Muzillac and La Roche-Bernard, favouring short supply chains. The dining room keeps a fireplace and opens onto a garden and a vegetable patch; a wine list, put together with sommelier David Baumier, runs alongside it. Menus range from a three-course option to a six-course tasting menu.

A lounge bar gives guests a quiet spot to end the evening. The surrounding area opens onto the Golfe du Morbihan and its islands, and the salt marshes of Guerande lie within reach. Check-in starts at 3pm; rooms are held until 11.30am on departure.
