Le Meridien Douala
Set on Rue Pierre Loti in the Bonanjo district, ibis Douala fronts a stretch of the city known for its restaurants, cafés and shops, all within an easy walk. The hotel runs to a compact 13m² room format, fitted with a double bed or two singles and a bathtub-shower combination, with higher floors requested for a quieter stay. A pool sits at the centre of the property, visible from a sitting area guests use for daytime work. La Veranda restaurant serves through the evening, and the Elimbi bar draws a mixed crowd of business travellers and locals for a drink after dark. Karaoke runs midweek, with a piano bar taking over Thursday to Saturday. Meeting rooms extend to 70m², useful for the corporate stays that make up much of the trade here. The airport lies seven kilometres out, a fifteen-minute run, and a shuttle covers the route around the clock on request. It is a practical base rather than a destination in itself. Beyond the city, the black sand coast at Limbe and the Lobé waterfalls near Kribi sit within a few hours' drive, though most guests come for Douala's port and commercial district rather than the coast. Check-in runs from midday. Staff work around the clock, and the front desk fields more requests than most city hotels its size.
