Legendary Lodge

Legendary Lodge sits on the outskirts of Arusha on a working coffee estate that has been producing for more than a century. The lodge grounds are large enough that the town feels distant — the gardens and plantation run to the edge of the property, and walking, running, and cycling trails let you cover them at your own pace.

There are twelve cottages in total: ten garden cottages and two family cottages. The garden cottages each have a private verandah, a king-size bed under a mosquito net, a lounge with a fireplace, and an en-suite bathroom. The two family cottages — named Kahawa and Meru — each connect two en-suite bedrooms through a shared living room with a fireplace; the master room has a king-size bed and a deep-soaking bath, the second has twin beds. All cottages have satellite television and Wi-Fi.

The lodge has a restaurant, a bar, a pool, and an on-site spa; certain spa treatments can be done in your cottage or in a shaded spot in the garden. The kitchen is staffed by Tanzanian chefs and draws on fresh local ingredients.

From here, the lodge can arrange day trips to Arusha National Park, Tarangire, Lake Manyara, and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. A coffee tour of the surrounding estate — following the bean from tree to roast to cup — is also available. Arusha is the standard gateway into Tanzania's northern safari circuit, and the lodge works well as both an arrival point and a place to decompress on the way home.
