LEVIT Glamping

Guatapé built its reputation on the reservoir that now surrounds Levit, a stretch of water created when the Peñol dam flooded the valley decades ago. The camp took that setting and built something unusual on it: spherical hanging tents, each one designed and constructed on site, suspended just above the ground with catamaran-style netting, a deck and a private bathroom three metres away. Guests reach the reserve by boat, a twenty-five-minute crossing from the marina near Guatapé, followed by a ten-minute walk through forest to the tents themselves. It is a two-hour run from Medellín door to door. Each moon sleeps two, fitted with a two-metre mattress, thermal blankets and its own jacuzzi on the deck. The lake sits close enough to hear at night. By day there is kayaking, rowing and swimming in the reservoir, plus a guided walk that covers the region's history and birdwatching along the shore. Evenings run to a lakeside fire with marshmallows and an outdoor film screening. Three resident dogs share the grounds with visiting pets. Loudspeakers are not permitted, and food or drink cannot be brought in from outside, since the restaurant and bar cover meals and snacks through the stay. Check-in runs by boat at 4pm, with departure at 3pm the following day.
