Mokoro Trips (seasonal activity)

A mokoro is a traditional dugout canoe, and this seasonal excursion from Little Sable moves through the Okavango Delta's clear, shallow channels at water level. A guide stands at the stern, poling the boat between lily pads and around low sandbanks, tracing routes that shift with the delta's flood cycle. The pace is slow and quiet, giving a close view of the waterways and the birdlife and small creatures that depend on them. Because water levels vary through the year, mokoro trips run only when the delta's channels allow it. It is a different vantage point on Khwai's landscape than the vehicle-based drives.
