Lopesan Baobab Resort
Meloneras, on Gran Canaria's southern coast, holds the Lopesan Baobab Resort a short walk from the Maspalomas dunes, where sand meets the Atlantic. The resort's grounds take their cue from the African savannah, with palms, planted gardens and paths that wind between them. Seven pools run through the property. It is a lot of water for one address. Guest rooms come in several categories, each fitted with satellite television, a minibar, a safe and a hairdryer, and the Unique Club tier adds upgraded rooms with access to private areas of the resort. The restaurant Akara serves food drawn from across Africa, while Pili Pili runs a grill under the open sky; a children's water park, tennis court and fitness centre round out the amenities. Evenings favour the terraces, where the light over the ocean turns from gold to grey. You can walk from the gardens to the dune reserve in minutes, and the beach itself lies within easy reach on foot. The resort forms part of the wider Meloneras stretch, alongside its sister property Costa Meloneras, and sits close to the seafront promenade and Meloneras Golf. Check-in and the rest of the practical detail follow standard resort routine.
