Mababe River Lodge & Campsite
Mababe River Lodge & Campsite sits on the Khwai River in the Mababe region of northern Botswana, roughly halfway between Maun and Kasane. Moremi North Gate is thirty-seven kilometres away; the Mababe Gate into Chobe's Savuti area is seven kilometres. That position makes it a practical base for day drives into both parks, with Xakanaxa and Third Bridge reachable in a single day from camp.
The lodge holds five deluxe rooms and eight standard double rooms, plus a family room that sleeps six across three connected rooms. Deluxe rooms have a fridge, an outdoor shower, and a bath facing the flood plain. The campsite runs to nine pitches, each with its own ablution block — hot shower, toilet, scullery, and braai area — plus two hundred and twenty volt power. Neither tents nor camp equipment are supplied; this is a self-drive campsite.
The infinity pool overlooks the Mababe Depression and the river. Elephant move through the area regularly, and lion and hyena are heard and seen at the camp perimeter after dark. Meals — breakfast, lunch, and dinner — are available on pre-booking. Activities bookable through the lodge include game drives, mokoro trips, boating, and helicopter scenic flights; day excursions require seven days' advance notice.
The nearest airstrip is Khwai, thirty kilometres away. Maun airport is one hundred and fourteen kilometres from the lodge.
