Mantis Kivu Marina Bay Hotel
Part of Phasec create
Mantis Kivu Marina Bay Hotel sits on Lake Kivu in Cyangugu, western Rwanda, one kilometre from Kamembe Airport. The hotel has seventy-nine rooms and suites across four categories — Standard, Family, Deluxe, and a Presidential Suite — all designed in locally inspired brown and gold tones with green and beige accents. Standard and Deluxe rooms have balconies, some looking directly over the lake, others over the pool. Family rooms run to forty-three square metres with two beds, a seating area, double-vanity bathroom, and a mini bar. The Presidential Suite adds a separate dining room, kitchen, and lounge.
There are two places to eat. La Vue Restaurant is the main dining room, where Chef Vincent draws on an on-site nursery and vegetable garden to produce farm-to-table Rwandan cuisine. The Pool Bar runs a casual international menu through the day, including a pizza oven and straightforward options for children. The Rose Bar handles drinks.
Nyungwe National Park is forty minutes from the hotel by road. The park holds chimpanzees, more than one thousand plant species including one hundred and forty orchid varieties, and thirty bird species found nowhere else. A coffee processing project on the lake is reachable by boat, where you can watch the roasting and tasting process. Guided walks, kayaking, cultural tours, and birdwatching are all arranged from the hotel's activity desk.
The hotel also has a conference centre and a dedicated children's club.
