Mar del Cabo by Velas Resorts

Mar del Cabo is a 48-suite hotel set directly on the Sea of Cortez, on the Transpeninsular Highway roughly 35 minutes from Los Cabos International Airport. It is the only property in the Velas Resorts group run on a European Plan and reserved for guests aged 16 and over, which keeps the pool terraces and beach quiet. Suites run from garden-facing rooms of around 592 square feet to a penthouse of up to 1,485 square feet, each finished with Mexican handicrafts and organic bath amenities. Most have a kitchenette; several open onto a private terrace close enough to hear the surf. The Encanto restaurant serves an organic, ingredient-led menu for breakfast, lunch and dinner, and guests can also book into the sister properties, Grand Velas Los Cabos and Grand Velas Boutique, for additional dining and spa access at extra cost. It is a compact stay, easy to navigate end to end. Outside the hotel, San José del Cabo's shops, golf courses and marina attractions sit a short drive away, and whale watching runs seasonally from December to March. The hotel also takes on full wedding and event buyouts, with capacity for up to 150 guests on the beach. Pets are welcome, with dedicated areas and gear provided on request.
