mARTigny Boutique Hôtel is a partnership between a Valais hotel group and the Fondation Pierre Gianadda, the art museum a five-minute walk away. It opened in 2015, built from the start as a project run with FOVAHM, a foundation supporting adults with intellectual disabilities, who make up much of the team. The result is 52 rooms and suites, each one given over to a different artist shown at the Gianadda, decorated with posters drawn from the museum's past exhibitions. Rooms range from 20 m2 standards to 30-m2 Junior Suites with a separate sitting area, all fitted with flat-screen TVs, safes and free high-speed Wi-Fi. The hotel sits two minutes from Martigny's railway station and is registered as a Bike Hotel, with secure storage and route information for cyclists heading out along the Rhône. Verbier is 35 minutes by car, Zermatt about 90. It is a compact stay, built on the idea that hospitality and inclusion can run on the same floor plan.
