Mayas Beach House

Golden sand runs along Marari Beach, backed by coconut palms and a working fishing village where boats still come in each morning. Mayas Beach House sits about 250 metres back from that shoreline, its cottages built with terracotta floors that stay cool underfoot and traditional Kerala timber roofing overhead. Walls are kept plain white inside, a quiet contrast to the green of the garden outside each window. Rooms open onto the pool through French windows. Air conditioning, Wi-Fi, a fridge, and a kettle are standard. Breakfast is complimentary and continental, though the kitchen's real strength is Kerala home cooking, including a fish curry from the host's own recipe. You can hear the sea from the garden in the evenings. Guests can take a cooking class in the on-site kitchen, join yoga sessions, or arrange an elephant to be brought down to the sand. A cycle or auto-rickshaw ride reaches the village, its churches, temples, and coir workshops. Further out, houseboats cross the backwaters near Alleppey and Kumarakom. Cochin airport lies about 67 km away by road. It stays small and family-run throughout.
