Mazava Loha Resort

The water here runs flat and clear, a lagoon stretching 12 km by 3 across the Emerald Sea in northern Madagascar. It is this flatness, not the wind alone, that draws kitesurfers and windsurfers to the spot known locally as the pool, a sheltered patch of sea reachable by boat in four or five minutes from the resort's own beach. Mazava Loha Resort faces that spot directly, on the Babaomby peninsula in Madagascar's Diana region. Accommodation splits into two types. Sea-view suites sit on the dunes, each an independent villa of 60 to 80 m² with a terrace, private bathroom, hot water, and no shared sightlines to neighbours. Six wooden bungalows sit apart in forest clearings, 24 m² as doubles or 40 m² for families, with lemurs for company and full privacy under the canopy. Instructors certified by IKO run one-on-one kitesurf lessons with a safety boat on hand, and the windsurf centre rents Fanatic boards and Naish or Duotone sails, resupplied regularly. Boat transfers to other spots, board storage, and rinse showers come free. The restaurant looks out over the lagoon and serves market-fresh fish at lunch and dinner, with breakfast as a buffet. Kite season runs from April to November.
