McBrides' Camp sits on a curving stretch of the Kafue River at its confluence with the Mushingashi, deep inside Kafue National Park in Zambia's Central Province. The camp is a long way from roads and other lodges. Seven thatched chalets are spread across the property — some face the dambo, an open floodplain that draws herds of herbivores and catches the morning sun; others sit on the river side with views over the Kafue. The Sunset and Riverview chalets face the river directly; the Mushingashi chalet sits beside the tributary of the same name, with hippos close by — the resident group numbers around thirty. The Nest chalet is tucked among Ilala palms. Ant Hill, Hippo, Dambo, and the family chalets each take a double bed and additional sleeping options for children or a companion. Every chalet has a private veranda and a detached bathroom with an outside shower.

Three cold springs on the property draw wildlife during the dry season. The surrounding area holds lion prides, leopard, wild dog, and two cheetah groups. The park records close to five hundred bird species; Böhm's bee-eater and Pel's fishing owl are resident at the camp.

Activities run morning and evening game drives, guided walks, night drives, boat cruises on the Kafue, fishing, and sleep-outs. Hot springs in the park are also accessible. The camp is all-inclusive. By road from Lusaka the drive takes around five hours through the park; charter flights land at an airstrip ten minutes from camp.
