Meadowood Napa Valley

Meadowood is a 250-acre estate set into the hills above St Helena, its grounds rising from the Napa River through vineyard rows and wooded canyon to mountain ridge. The current owner took over the property in 1979, and lodging has grown gradually since without disturbing its original wine-country character. Thirty-six rooms and suites sit among the trees, each built with a mix of rustic and refined materials rather than heavy ornament. Hill House, the largest, spans 1,745 square feet of indoor and outdoor space, with a fireplace, a separate living room behind pocket doors, and two private terraces, one holding a soaking tub and outdoor shower. Deer graze the lawns beside the five tennis courts, and hawks and woodpeckers work the tree line overhead. Three pools separate the crowd by age and mood: one for laps, one for families, one adults-only with cabanas. Guests can walk close to three miles of hillside trail, past a labyrinth built into the property's southern edge, with views over St Helena and the ridgelines that frame the valley. The Wine Center runs tastings on Napa terroir for guests and members only. Forum, the main restaurant, serves through the day; a seasonal Terrace Café adds al fresco service. Bicycles and Tesla charging are available on site.
