Modala Beach Resort

Panglao's coastline runs for a stretch that Modala Beach Resort claims as its own, a full kilometre of white sand along what locals call the island's longest shore. The resort grew from a family-owned venture built around that shoreline, and it has kept the beach as the organising fact of the place: rooms, restaurants and even a small mall are arranged to face the water. Four room categories step up from garden view to premium ocean view, each between 40 and 43 square metres with its own balcony and a day bed alongside the king or twin beds. Ocean-facing rooms look straight onto the sea. Guests dive and swim off the same shore, or book excursions inland to the Chocolate Hills and the Loboc River. In the evening, the Moadto Strip fills with bars and live music, and the Sunset Bar catches the last light over the water. It is a working stretch of coast, not a quiet one. The resort positions itself as an environmentally minded operation, with activities designed to leave the beach and reef intact rather than worn down by them. Transfers run from the airport and seaport, and in-room dining continues until midnight. Whether the draw is a wedding on the sand or an ordinary week of swimming and diving, the resort keeps its focus on the shoreline that gives it its name.
