Monkstadt 1745 Luxury Lodge

Monkstadt 1745 is a restored manor house on the Trotternish peninsula in Northern Skye, built into the old House & Steadings at Monkstadt. Croft land runs out from the windows, where cattle and sheep still graze, and the sea beyond opens toward the Outer Hebrides. Inside, the dining room keeps its original panelling, and Jacobite symbols carved through the house, butterflies, sunflowers, oak leaves, trace a link to Bonnie Prince Charlie and the 1745 uprising that gives the place its name. Rooms are four-poster suites with roll-top baths, flat-screen TVs and free Wi-Fi. Breakfast runs from 8am to 9am, and the bar opens at 4pm ahead of dinner, served at 7pm, in a menu built on Skye seafood and Highland game. Afterwards, guests can take a dram in the Whisky Room. Beyond the main house sit seven self-catering cottages and lodges in the Prestige Collection, several with wood-burning stoves and hot tubs, and four more in a courtyard setting known as the Steadings, sleeping two to five. Check-in across the property runs from 4pm, checkout at 10am. On a clear night the stars over Trotternish are hard to miss, and the sunsets from the lounge or patio are a local fixture. It is a working landscape first, a dining room second, and a history lesson throughout.
