On Santa Maria Bay, a Baja spa built around water and stone
Santa Maria Bay frames the resort, and its spa takes the bay's rhythms as a starting point rather than a backdrop. Treatments here draw on Baja California Sur traditions rather than imported formulas. The Mexican Roots Ritual uses an herb-infused wrap and warm overhead bath, a method long held locally to calm the body. The Jewel of Baja centres on damiana, a plant native to the region, worked into a wrap after a sea-sponge cleanse and a footbath. It closes with a four-hand massage. A cacao scrub, sourced from an ingredient prized across Mexico for centuries, opens another treatment before a coconut-oil massage finishes it. Facial menus run from a Japanese-technique lift to a London-designed treatment using vitamin peels and microcurrent work. Massage options include hot-and-cold stone therapy and a Mezcal-based friega, a traditional friction massage finished with a taste of mezcal. Couples, families and teens each have a separate menu. The spa forms part of a 39-acre resort on the bay, alongside pools, restaurants and rooms with private plunge pools. Salon services and fitness sessions round out the offer. Treatments run from 60 to 120 minutes, giving guests room to choose a short reset or a longer ritual.
