Mövenpick Hotel du Lac Tunis
Mövenpick Hotel Du Lac Tunis is a 5-star property that opened on 9 April 2018 on the shores of Lake Tunis, in the Berges du Lac business and diplomatic district. Its interiors were built as a running record of Tunisia's layered past: each floor is given over to a different civilisation, Phoenician, Roman or Arabic, worked through in prints, detailing and calligraphy specific to that era. The result reads less like theme decor than a quiet architectural essay on the country's history. Rooms range from Deluxe Kings at 40 to 49 square metres up to the two-bedroom Presidential Suite at 164 square metres, and several categories, including the Deluxe and Premium Kings, look directly over the lake. Suites keep separate living rooms and terraces; standard rooms carry rainfall showers or a bath and separate shower alongside 49-inch smart TVs. Dining runs across Le Grand Restaurant for all-day meals, La Table du Chef and the Al Diwan lounge, with a daily Chocolate Hour in the lobby. S Per Aqua spa adds a relaxation pool, sauna, hydro baths and a gym. Six venues, including a ballroom for up to 750 guests, handle meetings and weddings. Tunis-Carthage Airport is ten minutes away. The old Medina, Sidi Bou Saïd and Carthage itself sit about 15 minutes further on, close enough for an afternoon out and back before dinner.
