Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge

Nanuk Polar Bear Lodge is a fenced compound set where the Boreal Forest meets the Hudson Bay shoreline, roughly 250 kilometres southeast of Churchill, Manitoba, close to the historic York Factory trading post. The setting sits within a corridor of significant polar bear denning activity, which puts wildlife within regular sight of the buildings. Guest rooms are heated and private, each with an en-suite bathroom, cosy furnishings, and a sitting area just outside the door. The lounge and dining room look out over the bay through wide windows, with a fireplace for the evenings. It is a compact stay. Meals draw on regional ingredients and are served in the main lodge, prepared by chefs on site. By day, guides lead walking safaris and low-impact ATV tours out onto the tundra in search of bears, fox, and other wildlife that move through the area. A viewing tower stands above the compound for watching the northern lights, and the fenced perimeter allows guests to move about the grounds while keeping a safe distance from animals passing close by. Evenings often include a talk on the region's wildlife and history, held by the fire before guests retire to their rooms. The lodge also has a library and small gift shop for quieter hours between excursions.
