Ngorongoro Coffee Lodge

Grown up around a working coffee estate on the edge of the Ngorongoro Forest Reserve, Ngorongoro Coffee Lodge sits near the town of Karatu on the northern safari circuit. Rows of coffee still run out from the cottages toward the treeline. Twenty-six cottages make up the lodge, including three family suites of two adjoining rooms each, built with hand-crafted furniture, a private verandah, and a fireplace for the cold Crater-rim nights. Ten of the double cottages hold a king bed and a queen, both under mosquito netting, with a dressing area, writing desk, and a bathroom fitted with a slipper tub and both indoor and outdoor showers. French doors open onto a private veranda facing the coffee fields and the forest beyond. Common areas gather around one large veranda overlooking the pool, taking in reception, lounge, bar, and dining room. It is a short drive to Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara National Park, making the lodge a practical base for both. Guests can walk the plantation with a guide to see how the coffee is grown and processed on site. Wi-fi runs through the lodge, and a spa and small gift shop round out the property. Check-in runs from 1pm, check-out from 10am.
