Nkwali sits on a bend of the Luangwa River, with the national park directly across the water. Rather than crossing by the camp's pontoon, guests can enter by boat, a seasonal alternative that depends on river levels. The approach gives a different vantage on the park's game, watched from the water rather than a vehicle track, and often brings sightings of the leopards and elephants known to move along this stretch of bank. It pairs naturally with the camp's other river-based routines, including birdwatching from the same stretch of water. The activity runs only when conditions allow.
