NorGlamp Arctic Dome

Randøy island sits in a fjord in the municipality of Hjelmeland, on Norway's west coast, and NorGlamp occupies a stretch of its shoreline. The site holds a mix of shelters set among pine trees above the water: canvas domes, timber barrels, a hobbit-hole cabin, a tipi, and a cocoon tent that hangs between tree trunks. Each unit looks out over the fjord or into forest. The Arctic Dome has a queen bed, carpeted floor, electrical heating, and a small seating area; a heated bathroom with a bio-toilet stands just outside. It is a compact, self-contained setup. Guests share a sauna and jacuzzi housed in a barrel built to withstand Nordic winters, open through the year. Meals can be delivered to the door for an extra charge, or guests can cook using the kitchen section in the barrel units. The wider area rewards a short drive: Preikestolen, the cliff above Lysefjorden, is about an hour away, and closer trails climb Randåsen and Lauvåsen for views over the surrounding islands and Stavanger. Local farms nearby sell cider, cheese, and smoked salmon, several of them a few minutes from the gate. You can hear birdsong from the private deck each morning before setting out.
