Nostalgia Hotel

Tiong Bahru is Singapore's oldest housing estate, and Nostalgia Hotel is set inside its conservation zone, where the streets still carry colonial-era architecture under Urban Redevelopment Authority protection. The hotel runs to 48 rooms across six categories, from a windowless Superior at 14 square metres to a Balcony Room at 21 square metres with its own lanai terrace. Interiors are split between two decor themes, Lush and Colonial, each dressed with period-style art and premium linen. It is a compact stay, but a well-connected one. Three MRT stations sit within walking distance, putting Orchard Road, Marina Bay Sands and Gardens by the Bay within minutes by train. Guests can walk out into the district's market streets and pre-war shophouses before returning to air-conditioned rooms fitted with cable television, an in-room safe and a mini fridge. An outdoor pool and a lounge bar round out the ground floor, alongside a small food and drink menu of tapas and thin-crust pizza. The hotel also runs a meeting room for daytime hire. Check-in guests receive complimentary bottled water and tea and coffee facilities in every room. Between the conserved shopfronts outside and the updated fittings inside, the hotel reads as a working piece of the neighbourhood rather than a set apart from it.
