Oneta Resort

Oneta Resort is a family-run eco-resort on Ono Island, spread across 70 acres of beachfront in Fiji's Eastern Division. The island sits on the Great Astrolabe Reef, one of the larger barrier reefs anywhere, and the water off the property runs clear over coral gardens thick with fish. Guests reach it by short flight to Kadavu Island, then a boat crossing to Ono. Bures and villas are built in a traditional Fijian style, timber-framed and open to the light, each with a sitting area, private bathroom, and deck. Villas add separate living and dining rooms, more floor space, and their own stretch of beach. Meals are taken at the main lodge, drawing on a garden that supplies most of the resort's vegetables and fruit. Solar and wind cover most of the power load, and the dive and snorkel teams keep groups small to limit reef contact. You can hear little beyond water on the sand and the occasional outrigger passing. Days run toward the water: snorkelling with manta rays, diving the reef passes, kayaking through mangroves, or simply sitting on a private deck. The resort is remote by design. It is not a place guests pass through quickly.
