Orchard Valley Glamping

Set on a hillside above a heart-shaped pond, Orchard Valley Glamping occupies a corner of a 40-hectare farmlet outside Ōtorohanga, where kiwifruit vines run along one boundary and paddocks of sheep, pigs and cattle fill the rest. The property holds a single tent. It is a Kambaku model built in South Africa and shipped whole, insulated against both Waikato frost and summer heat, and set at 50 m² with two queen beds under a canvas roof. A separate outdoor kitchen and a bathroom hut, with a freestanding tub and rain shower, sit either side of the tent along a wraparound deck. Inside, a Chesterfield sofa faces an ethanol fire, and a four-poster bed carries linen and a totara-wood side table cut from timber grown on the farm. You can watch ducklings work the pond from the deck, and after dark, the wood-fired hot tub outside runs on no schedule but the guests' own. Breakfast comes from the farm itself — free-range eggs, fresh bread, milk and juice — with tea and coffee included. Solar power and a composting toilet keep the operation light on the land. Waitomo's glowworm caves and black-water rafting sit twelve minutes down the road; Ōtorohanga's cafés and its Kiwi House are closer still. The tent sleeps four at most, and bookings run to a two-night minimum.
