Ovo Patagonia

Estancia Bonanza, in Santa Cruz Province near El Chaltén, holds the route in: a stretch of native forest, then a via ferrata bolted into a cliff face that climbs to 270 metres. At the top wait four capsules, glass-walled and fixed to the rock, each turning a full circle of view toward Mount Fitz Roy. It is a short stay by design. Guests choose between a half-day visit or a night in the capsule itself, which stacks into three levels: a bed on top, a small lounge with a dry toilet in the middle, and a net slung at the base for lying out under open sky. Windows on all three levels allow cross-ventilation, and curtains give what privacy a glass egg can offer. Solar power and satellite Wi-Fi run to each capsule despite the drop below. A mountain guide travels the route on call, carrying dinner and breakfast up to guests who overnight rather than simply visit. Transfers from El Chaltén run by 4x4 to the estancia, followed by the hike and climb; both programmes, night or day visit, include the guided ascent and via ferrata. The exposure is the point: wind moves through the structure rather than against it, and the capsule is built as shelter from Patagonian weather rather than escape from the view. Guests must be over sixteen and fit enough for sustained walking and a fixed climb.
