Palacio Marmoles

Set within the old quarter of Seville, on Calle Mármoles beside three ancient columns that give the street its name, Palacio Mármoles occupies the central part of an 18th-century palace house once belonging to the Marqueses de Ponce de León. The building is a short walk from the cathedral and the Giralda. At its centre sits a porticoed patio ringed by marble columns, listed and protected by Andalucía's heritage authority. It is a compact stay by design. Seven apartments range from 30 to 125 m2, the largest a duplex with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a two-storey library opening onto a shared terrace. Interiors mix antique and contemporary furniture, and each unit keeps its own patio, a fitted kitchen, and a flat-screen television. From the terrace the roofline opens onto the cathedral and its dome, and on warm evenings guests take a meal there under the sky. A gallery on the ground floor, furnished for reading or a game of chess, gives the house a second communal room beyond the terrace. Housekeeping runs daily, and breakfast can be arranged for an extra charge. Reception speaks four languages. Check-in feels personal rather than processed, and the metro stop at Puerta de Jerez is a few minutes off on foot, putting the rest of the city within easy reach.
