Palm Garden Boutique Hotel
Nine suites tucked in palm forest, 950 metres from the Watamu shore

Watamu's palm forest closes in around this small hotel, a short run inland from the Indian Ocean shore. The beach lies 950 metres away, reached by an eight-minute drive from town, and the distance keeps the garden quiet rather than crowded. Nine suites are spread across three buildings, each with air conditioning, private Wi-Fi and, in most cases, a veranda or terrace looking onto the pool or garden. The Lounge Kitchen Suite has a kitchenette and swinging bed on its terrace, built for longer stays. The Two-Bedroom Suite is the only one with two separate bedrooms and a shared bathroom, suited to friends or a small family. Local timber and Kenyan craftsmanship run through the interiors, kept in soft tones rather than bright colour. Manni's Restaurant serves Italian and international dishes, with seafood, homemade pasta and a cocktail and cigar lounge attached for evenings that run long. A spa on site has its own private pool, reserved for treatment guests only. Solar panels and a 220,000-litre rainwater system supply much of the property's power and water, with treated wastewater returned to the garden. Only guests aged 12 and over are accommodated, which keeps the pool and restaurant calm through the day. It is a compact stay, built around quiet rather than spectacle.
