Climb 25 storeys above downtown Yangon and Shwedagon Pagoda fills the window. The tower rises inside Junction City, a mixed-use block in Pabedan Township at the corner of Bogyoke Aung San Road, close to the city's old colonial quarter. It holds 336 rooms and suites, run from a Deluxe Room up through Pacific Club categories to a Presidential Suite, each with a minibar, air-conditioning and a flat-screen TV. The Wellness Floor carries the infinity pool, positioned to frame the skyline rather than the street below. A 24-hour gym and a spa sit alongside it. You can watch the gilded stupa catch the evening light from the Pacific Club Lounge, where all-day refreshments and evening cocktails are served. Two restaurants anchor the ground floor: Saan and the Cantonese room Hai Tien Lo, alongside Teak Bar for cocktails and a gourmet shop, Pacific Marketplace, for provisions. Yangon International Airport lies around 30 minutes away by car, traffic depending. Check-in runs from 2pm. It is a base built for movement through the city below: markets, temples, the river, and back again to a room with the pagoda still in view.
