Panorama Glass Lodge South

Panorama Glass Lodge is two small sites of glass-roofed cabins, one in Hella in south Iceland, one near Borgarnes in the west. Each cabin is built from wood, steel, and glass, in a shape drawn from Scandinavian building tradition, with a glazed roof over the bed so the sky is the ceiling. There are four lodges at each location. In the south, Alva, Freya, Odin, and Thor sit apart from one another on the same plot above a river, with Alva nearest the car park and Thor set furthest off with a view to Mount Burfell. In the west, Njord, Heimdall, Frigg, and Skadi look out over the ocean and the Borgarnes coastline, with Frigg the largest, sleeping five, and wheelchair accessible. Every cabin has its own bathroom, an outdoor hot tub, and a terrace; saunas are shared between neighbouring pairs. Kitchens run to two induction stoves, a Nespresso machine, and basic pantry goods, though fresh food is left to guests to bring. Roll-down blinds line the bed for privacy, but the roof glass itself is bare, so nights with a full moon are bright. It is a quiet way to watch the northern lights without leaving the room.
