Set on raised ground above the Somosomo Strait, the rooms and bures at this small resort look straight over open water toward the reef passes that give Taveuni its name among divers. Sixteen rooms make up the property, from oceanview rooms to two plunge-pool bures and a pair of two-bedroom family units, each with air conditioning and a private bathroom. It is a compact stay. Hammocks and sun loungers are set along the cliff edge, positioned for the evening light rather than for shade alone. Below the grounds, a PADI five-star dive centre runs boats out to more than 40 sites, including the Great White Wall and the soft coral gardens of Rainbow Reef, a short crossing away. Non-divers have their own rhythm: a garden walk through the property's own produce beds, coconut husking and tree climbing demonstrated by resort staff, and a weekly Fiji night built around a lovo feast cooked in an underground oven, followed by kava and dancing. Meals draw on vegetables grown on site and fish brought in daily, served at an oceanfront restaurant and bar. The Bamboo Spa sits over the water at one end of the grounds, using coconut oil and Pure Fiji products for its treatments. You can hear the strait at night from most rooms. Airport transfers run by road and boat from Taveuni's Matei airstrip, about an hour away.
