Parker Palm Springs

Set behind a brise-soleil screen off East Palm Canyon Drive, Parker Palm Springs occupies thirteen acres of private grounds four miles from downtown. Hedgerows divide the property into pockets of lawn and patio, so a guest can cross from the Gene Autry Pool to the pétanque court or the croquet lawn without meeting another one. The resort holds 144 rooms across several categories, from Atelier rooms built for restaurants and spa over square footage to twelve stand-alone villas with their own hedge-enclosed patios. Interiors throughout are by Jonathan Adler, and the mix runs from Moroccan textiles and grasspapered ceilings in the Hammock Rooms to floor-to-ceiling shutters in the Estate Rooms that close out the desert light. There are three pools, including one reserved for adults. Poolside Rooms open straight onto lawn and water, patios trimmed in bougainvillea. Food and drink run across six distinct venues, from the wine counter at Counter Reformation to Norma's all-day breakfast terrace and the Lemonade Stand by the pétanque court, open to hotel guests only. Mrs. Parker's, set poolside after dark, seats two. Fire pits and hammocks fill the gaps between them. Check-in guests arrive to a working landscape of citrus and herb plantings threaded between the buildings, closer to a private garden than a hotel forecourt.
