Pen-y-Garth Lodge Park
Pen Y Garth is the third park acquired by the Williams family, who bought it in 2013 after running two caravan parks nearby since the 1970s. It sits within Snowdonia National Park, a short walk from the shore of Bala Lake, and holds a portfolio of 42 lodges spread across 24 acres of parkland. The family took the park from a two-star rating to five stars within 18 months of purchase, a target Visit Wales had set at five years. Each lodge has its own hot tub and a fully equipped kitchen. Layouts range from one-bedroom retreats to eight-berth lodges built for extended family groups, with open-plan living areas, en-suite bedrooms and decking that looks out over the Arenig mountains or the town of Bala below. The Berwyn Retreat sleeps eight across four bedrooms, two of them en suite, with a kitchen fitted for a full house. Outdoor space matters here: covered barbecue kitchens, fire pits and raised decking are standard across the range, built for evenings outside regardless of Welsh weather. The park has since been joined in the group's holdings by a touring park and a small cluster of cottages nearby. Water sports on the lake, including sailing and wakeboarding, sit minutes away. Bala town and the Tryweryn rapids are a short drive further on.
